With regard to the summer holidays, which start in the German states of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, Memmingen Airport sees itself well positioned. A large crowd is expected, but chaos is not expected to break out.

"Our team is fit and well positioned for the start of the holiday season and what's to come afterwards," explains Airport Sales Manager Marcel Schütz. In the last few weeks and months, new employees have been continuously hired and will continue to do so. "And when things get tight, everyone is committed to helping together."

Since Memmingen Airport already exceeded the pre-Corona figures and reached the one million passenger mark last Sunday, increased demand has long been part of everyday life. The number of passengers in July is currently around eleven percent higher than the same period in 2019. Around 310.000 passengers and 900 take-offs and 900 landings are expected for the upcoming summer holidays. In 2019 there were 275.417 passengers. According to Schütz, if there have been delays or, in rare cases, flight cancellations in the last few weeks, this was mostly due to the congestion at other airports and in the airspace.

But the passenger himself, as Marcel Schütz and his colleagues point out, can also contribute to faster handling. On the one hand, you should be at the airport at least two hours before departure. Since passengers have usually checked in online and have a boarding pass, only those with luggage need to go to the check-in counters to check them in. "Even if you pack your hand luggage correctly, you save time later at the security check," explains Marketing Manager Marina Siladji. Liquids are still not allowed and should therefore be banned from hand luggage in advance. Anyone who always has their ID and boarding pass ready to hand until they sit in the machine can also avoid time delays. And: "Book the parking space online in advance," advise those responsible. Inexpensive and climate-friendly at the same time, you can get here with the 9 euro ticket, which you can use to travel comfortably to the terminal.
