The holiday season continues to boost passenger traffic at central German airports

Central German airports benefited greatly from high demand for tourist flights during the holiday season. Significantly more passengers were counted at the two locations in Dresden and Leipzig/Halle than in the previous year.

At Dresden Airport, the number of passengers increased to 2022 from January to August 530.150. This corresponds to an increase of 296 percent compared to the same period last year. In August, passenger demand increased by 91 percent compared to the previous year to 104.531 passengers. The number of flight movements increased by 65,6 percent to 13.697 in the first eight months.

At Leipzig/Halle Airport, the number of passengers increased by 252,5 percent to 960.722 in the first eight months. In August, the number of passengers increased by 60,4 percent to 202.396 compared to the same month last year. The number of flight movements in Leipzig/Halle from January to August 2022 rose by 10,2 percent to 53.054 compared to the previous year.
