The insolvency of the tour operator FTI has caused uncertainty among many holidaymakers as to whether their booked trips can still take place or whether and how they will be compensated. In view of this situation, the holiday home marketplace HomeToGo has recorded a significant increase in demand for holiday homes and apartments for the summer.
Jonas Upmann, spokesperson for HomeToGo, explains: "In the last 10 days, we have seen almost 7% more searches for stays in July. People in Germany are increasingly looking for relaxation and variety."
In response, HomeToGo is launching a campaign to support those affected by the FTI: the company is giving away a seven-day stay in a luxury villa in Croatia worth around 5.000 euros to all those affected. In addition, all participants will receive a cashback voucher of up to 100 euros, regardless of whether they win the main prize.
Upmann emphasises the motivation behind the campaign: "The insolvency hits many travellers hard, especially just before the summer holidays. At HomeToGo we want to help them to still have a nice holiday. This campaign is also intended to promote individual tourism in the holiday home sector and show ways of finding attractive accommodation even at short notice."
