Various airlines have already bitten their teeth on low-cost flights on long-haul routes and now, with HUB Airlines, a completely new concept is pending. Four companies on different continents will soon take off with a fleet consisting of Airbus A350s.

Since June 2017, Rudolf Brockhausen has been setting up a new concept in the long-haul low-cost area (LHLC). On November 21, 2019, HUB Airlines Ltd was founded in London. The Brazilian was an airline pilot himself and has type ratings on the A320, B737, B757, B767 and B777. But he wants to use a different model for his HUB Airlines, the Airbus A350.

HUB Airlines is supposed to be a holding company that operates four independent airlines: HUB Europe, HUB North America, HUB South America and HUB Southeast Asia. The start is to take place in Brazil at HUB South America. The base for this has already been announced, the Viracopos International Airport in Campinas (northwest of Sao Paulo). The Azul is also based at this airport.

The ambition is to become the largest scheduled airline for long-haul traffic. The aircraft designated as “HUBird” are to be used in a two-class configuration. As early as October 2020, HUB informed the aircraft manufacturer Airbus that it had chosen the A350 XWB. According to the prospective airline, a clever structure was developed, which is based on the clockwise direction. In this way, the four turnstiles can be easily connected to one another.

HUB Airlines is still keeping a low profile as to when flight operations should start.
