IAG will send its long-haul low-cost subsidiary Level on an expansion course with the Airbus A321XLR aircraft.

Currently, Level is not a full-fledged airline as it does not have an AOC or operating license. The flights are operated by Iberia. That will change later this year, as we are currently in the approval process. The six Airbus A330s are to be supplemented by three A321XLRs, which come from an existing IAG order.

From Barcelona, the destinations Miami, New York-JFK and Boston will then be served with this pattern, it was announced at the most recent Capital Markets Day. The long-haul activities from Paris-Orly carried out by sister company Openskies were abandoned in the wake of the corona pandemic. The Austrian Level Europe, which had massive sales and utilization problems from day one, was disposed of at the beginning of the pandemic with the help of a bankruptcy filing.
