Less than two years after the first flight, which was accompanied by a 1-cent ticket campaign, the IAG offshoot Level Europe GmbH files for bankruptcy. The Austria experiment is thus over for the IAG.

The International Airlines Group is sending its Austrian subsidiary Level Europe into bankruptcy. The carrier will cease business operations with immediate effect and will shortly file for bankruptcy at the Korneuburg Regional Court without self-administration. Flight operations will no longer be started.

Rumors of a possible "exit" from the IAG's Vienna project, which was poorly accepted by the market, had been around for a long time. In the last few days, the company has not been very informative about restarting and with the announcement of bankruptcy it should now be clear why. The corona pandemic thus claimed its first airline victim in Austria.

Level Europe explains in a broadcast that it was hit particularly hard by the Corona crisis. Holders of tickets that have been booked directly through Level asks the company to contact the insolvency administrator after ordering. If a partner, for example a travel agency, was booked, this should be contacted. Vouchers and flight tickets issued by Level Europe are worthless with immediate effect after filing for insolvency and the previously announced cessation of business operations.
