On Monday, February 27, 2023, significant restrictions in air traffic are to be expected at Cologne/Bonn and Düsseldorf airports. The background is that the Verdi union is again calling for work stoppages at airports.

“At the airport in Cologne/Bonn, the first groups of employees started their strikes in the night from February 26.2.2023th to February 27.2.2023th, 27.2.2023. Dusseldorf follows shortly thereafter. Due to the shift work, the strikes will end at both airports in the night from February 28.2.2023, XNUMX to February XNUMX, XNUMX,” said the employee representatives in a press release.

The impact on flight operations cannot be estimated at this time. However, it can be assumed that there will be significant restrictions. The previous wave of strikes, which took place at seven German airports, meant that Munich, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Hamburg and Dortmund, among others, had to completely suspend operations. Lufthansa canceled all flights from the Munich and Frankfurt hubs.

Passengers who have booked tickets from/to Düsseldorf or Cologne/Bonn for Monday should check with their airline regularly about the current status of their booking. Any rebooking and/or alternative transport options should also be clarified.
