The Indian state is helping Spicejet and Go First with emergency guarantees for bridging loans. Aviation Minister Kumar Singh confirmed this in response to a parliamentary question.
Accordingly, India guarantees Spicejet for the equivalent of 17,1 million US dollars and Go First for 3,4 million US dollars. The guarantees were issued around July 16, 2021 and have the third round of local corona aid as the legal basis.
The minister also stated that India was able to grow strongly in the cargo sector. The global volume transported by Indian companies is said to have risen from two percent to 19 percent. Among other things, Spicejet converted some passenger planes into so-called Preighters.
