The Indian low-cost airline Spicejet turns around 50 machines into cash as part of sale-and-leaseback deals. A corresponding contract was signed with Avenue Capital, but it was not communicated in detail which aircraft it actually was.
It is obvious that it could be a Boeing 737-Max machine. Spicejet has ordered a total of 155 aircraft from this series. So far, 13 copies have been delivered. India has not yet granted a re-approval, but Spicejet expects this within the next few weeks.
It was only recently announced that the low-cost airline was one of De Havilland Aircraft of Canada has failed is. The aircraft manufacturer went to court because Spicejet failed to make down payments for the DHC Dash 8-400 it had ordered. The airline announced that it would appeal against the judgment.
