According to local media reports, the Indian regional airline TruJet is facing major orders from Airbus and Embraer. People talk about 54 A220 and 44 E190-E2. These are to be financed by a new investor who recently acquired 49 percent.

Actually, the Americans wanted to take over the ailing Air India, but did not get a chance. A budget of 1,89 billion US dollars has been budgeted for TruJet. The fleet is to be renewed within the next three years. CH-Aviation.com reports that they also want to compete with low-cost airlines such as Goair or AirAsia India in the future.

The TruJet fleet currently consists of seven turboprop aircraft. There are two ATR72-600 and five ATR72-500. These are used almost exclusively within India. The bulk order should also lead to more entry into international business. The purchase agreements with Embraer and Airbus are expected to be concluded in May 2021.
