From October 27, 2023, the helipad at the Innsbruck University Hospital will be in operation again. Previously, there was a delay of several weeks due to material defects that were discovered immediately after the renovation.

After more than 26 years of operation, during which, according to the hospital, there were around 69.000 flight movements, this year the renovation of the heliport, which is mainly used for the arrival of patients, was renovated. A replacement landing site was set up in the Olympia World for the transition period. From there, the patients were taken to the clinic with the help of ambulances.

This temporary arrangement should actually have been ended a few weeks ago. During the acceptance of the renovated heliport, experts who worked for the client then Not insignificant material defects were found. These had to be remedied by the construction company. The result: the hospital's heliport could still not be used.

Now there was the green light because the completely renovated helipad was positively accepted. From October 27, 2023, rescue helicopters will again take off and land directly at the Innsbruck clinic. The Olympiaworld temporary is therefore no longer needed. According to official information, there were around 400 flight movements at the alternative site during the renovation phase.
