The airline Iraqi Airways wants to fly to the European Union. However, you have the problem that you are on the so-called black list of the EU Commission and are therefore not allowed to use the airspace. This is to be avoided with the help of wet lease aircraft.

Iraqi Airways is currently looking for a suitable aircraft that you would like to rent with staff. A corresponding call for tenders was published a few days ago. This is aimed at operators who have the right to fly to destinations in the European Union without restriction. Furthermore, they do not want a "single aircraft operator" and stipulate that the machines used must not be older than 15 years.

The Baghdad-based operator suggests European and non-European airlines are eligible for the flights to be operated to and from Iraq. Iraqi Airways is initially assuming a one-year contract and anticipates an average of 150 flight hours per month. In the past, for example, Boeing 737-800 aircraft were leased from Slovakia's Air Explore.
