The Rostec subsidiary UAC is no longer able to offer the medium-haul jet MS-21 with engines from Pratt & Whitney. Originally airlines could opt for the PW1000G as an alternative to the Aviadvigatel PD-14.

Yuri Borisov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, announced that the MS-21 will only be available with one engine option. This is the Russian-made Aviadvigatel PD-14. This has consequences for the schedule, because this engine is not yet ready for series production.

Due to the sanctions that the United States of America and the European Union, among others, have imposed on the Russian Federation in response to the military invasion of Ukraine, Pratt & Whitney is not allowed to supply engines. So Irkut cannot offer any MS-1000 equipped with PW21G either.

In general, the United Aircraft Corporation has to revise this pattern, because many components come from the west. According to Borisov, these are now to be produced within Russia. This will make you independent of imports. What is easy to say is quite complicated in practice and leads to further delays.
