The restructuring plan presented by the management of the insolvent low-cost airline Norwegian Air Shuttle was approved by the Irish High Court on Friday. The carrier has filed for bankruptcy protection proceedings in Norway, Ireland and the USA, among others.

Norwegian is scheduled to restart on May 26, 2021. Company boss Jacob Schram describes the decision of the court as a great success and believes that it is a ticket for a new beginning. However, the court in Norway must now also accept the restructuring plan. The decision is expected to be made at the end of April 2021.

Norwegian wants to recapitalize with around 440 million euros. Before that, you want to get rid of legacy issues such as aircraft orders via the insolvency proceedings. The long haul is no longer reactivated. In the future, the plan is to concentrate on flights within Norway as well as European tourist flights. The fleet will consist of Boeing 737-800s.
