The Israeli airlines El Al, Arkia and Israir have again received financial support from the government. The first-named company will receive a $ 30 million grant.
This is tied to the condition that majority owner Kenny Rosenberg puts at least the same amount into the company. El Al had asked for 100 million US dollars, but the government only approved the amount mentioned in the first paragraph.
Arkia and Israir do not receive any direct government aid, only guaranteed loans. For this purpose, the Israeli government is providing guarantees up to a maximum of 44 million US dollars. These two airlines are also hit hard due to the lengthy border closure, which was only recently lifted for foreigners.
