The European aircraft manufacturer Airbus was able to land a firm order from ITA Airways for a total of 28 aircraft. The letter of intent dated September 30, 2021 was thus converted into a purchase agreement.

Accordingly, ITA Airways will purchase seven Airbus A220, eleven A320neo and ten A330neo. Furthermore, a not yet defined number of A350s is to be obtained from lessors.

“By completing the order announced last September, the strategic partnership with Airbus is taking an important step forward. In addition to this agreement, opportunities for further collaboration have arisen, particularly with regard to technological developments in the aerospace sector and digitization, where Airbus is the market leader. All of this is part of what we are doing to meet our environmental sustainability goals, ”said Alfredo Altavilla, Executive President of ITA Airways.

These new Airbus aircraft will add a new generation of aircraft with a better environmental footprint to ITA Airways' original fleet. They are equipped with the latest technology and state-of-the-art cabins to guarantee the airline maximum operational efficiency and the best possible comfort for travelers.

“We are very proud to partner with ITA Airways and build the airline's long-term future with the most efficient and modern Airbus aircraft. We are thus supporting the airline's goal of expanding its route network in Europe and on an international level as sustainably as possible, ”said Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Airbus International.
