The former airline Alitalia was considered a flying money-destroying machine. The successor Ita Airways is not profitable, according to local media reports it burns around two million euros a day. Accordingly, it is not surprising that the Ministry of Finance wants to get rid of the carrier as quickly as possible.
Even the Italian government is of the opinion that Ita Airways alone will not be able to survive in the long term. Prospective buyers can currently view the business figures in the data room and then submit a formal takeover bid. The government wants to sell the majority as soon as possible.
But another circumstance is also piquant: According to local media reports, the supervisory board and management should receive a bonus payment of up to 400.000 euros if they contribute to the successful sale of the majority of Ita Airways.
