In Italy there will be a general strike on December 2nd, which will affect large areas of public life. Massive restrictions are likely, especially in traffic. However, no information can be given at this point in time about the exact scope of the industrial action.

Several Italian unions have called for a general strike on December 2nd. Especially in traffic, travelers and commuters have to reckon with restrictions, some of which are serious. Regional and long-distance trains, local public transport and the aviation sector will be affected by the work stoppage. A strike by employees at the motorway tollbooths is also likely. Holidaymakers who want to travel to, from or through Italy on December 2 should therefore definitely find out in advance about their booked connections and, if necessary, consider other travel days. Due to the failure of numerous local transport connections, it is also to be expected that commuters will use cars and thus cause overcrowded streets. The extent of the strike will ultimately be difficult to predict at the moment, as Check24 reports.

Nevertheless, some strike times have already been published. Air and rail services will be on strike from 1pm on December 21st until the same time on December 2nd, while highway workers will be on strike for 1 hours from 22pm on December 24st. The strike in public transport differs from city to city. In Rome, for example, the most serious disruptions are to be expected on Fridays between 8:30 a.m. and 17 p.m. and from 20 p.m. until the end of operations.
