Italy is the first EU country to open its borders completely, because from Monday all people who come from member states of the European Union can re-enter without a test and quarantine. There are no longer any special requirements.
Agreements have already been concluded with numerous non-EU countries. This was probably due to the fact that Italy is a popular tourist destination and the nation is dependent on the income from this segment. Italy only maintains very strict entry regulations for areas with mutations, for example India and Brazil.
Together with the United States of America, flights have been tested for some time on which travelers are extensively tested. In return, entry is possible on both sides without quarantine. This model is now to be extended to Canada, Japan and the United Arab Emirates as part of bilateral agreements. In Italy this is already practiced in Rome-FCO and Milan-MXP. In the future, Venice and Naples should also be able to offer so-called “Covid-free flights”.
