Travelers should refrain from trips to Italy on Friday. Because a planned strike paralyzes all public transport.

On October 23.10 are all affected: air, rail and ferry traffic directly. Motorists are not spared either, petrol stations and toll stations will take part in the protest. In addition, sights could also be closed.

The ADAC advises reconsidering travel plans to Italy and has summarized the possible effects in an overview:

  • Flights: Cancellations and delays all day: including at Verona and Milan airports, strikes at Alitalia
  • Train: Cancellations and delays also with international connections (according to Deutsche Bahn also the EC trains Munich - Kufstein - Innsbruck - Verona affected). Start of the strike: Thursday, October 22nd, 21 p.m. Duration: 24 hours
  • Public transportation: Buses, trams and underground trains with a limited timetable (participation probably in Rome, Turin, Bologna, Bari and Catania, among others)
  • Ferries: The connections to and from the large islands are particularly affected. It is not yet known whether the ferries destined for Greece will also remain in the port
  • highways: Start Thursday, October 22nd, from 22 p.m., for 24 hours. According to media reports, toll stations are only hit at night. It is not excluded that gas stations are closed as well as towing companies and motorway maintenance depots restrict their operations
