The Italian startup Aeroitalia wants to build a hub at Forli Airport. The first scheduled flights are to take off from this airport as early as next month. The company explained that it is financed entirely from private sources of money.

The logo and the livery of the new company are obviously based on the former flag carrier Alitalia. However, there is no connection between the two companies. According to its own statements, the Aeroitalia brand stands for warmth, care, excellence and beauty, among other things.

It has officially been an airline since April 22, 2022, because on this day it received its operating license from the Italian civil aviation authority AOC. First you want to operate some charter flights. The first lines will be served from May 2022. They also want to go long-distance, but first a feeder network to Forli is to be set up.

Initially, you want to start with five Boeing 737-800. With regard to the routes, however, they are still reserved and pointed out at a press conference that the first two routes should be communicated in the next few days. One of the reasons why the decision was made in favor of Forli was that this airport in Emilia-Romagna is underserved. Unlike Rimini and Bologna, there are few regular flights from Forli.

Low costers have not really taken an interest in this airport in recent years. Although Air Dolomiti wants to connect to the Lufthansa hub in Munich, this route has been repeatedly suspended. Albawings, among others, offers charter flights in the direction of Tirana. The Greek Lumiwings offered some domestic flights last year, but the connections to Parma, Catania and Palermo have not yet been reactivated.

Aeroitalia has not yet officially commented on the first two routes. One refers to an upcoming announcement, which should take place in the next few days. However, there is a possible hint on the homepage of Forli Airport: Paris and London are mentioned there as future destinations without naming an airline.
