Japan is apparently considering abolishing the strict entry requirements: According to Japanese media reports, tourists should be able to enter the country again largely without restrictions in October.

According to a report by the Japanese Fuji News Network (FNN), vacationers who have been vaccinated at least three times and those who have tested negative will be allowed to enter Japan in the future. However, nothing specific is known about the source of the information. As the television broadcaster goes on to explain, the upper limit for entries from abroad is also to be lifted, which is currently 50.000 per day. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's final decision is expected by the end of the week, with the changes possibly taking effect as early as October.

The Japanese tourism industry has long been pushing for more opening, as Japan currently only allows a limited number of tourists into the country. In addition, there is a visa requirement for this. This was not the case before the pandemic. In the eyes of the tour operators, this represents a major obstacle to the recovery of travel. This is reported by Check 24.
