The Japanese low-cost airline Zipair now also offers meals with insect repellent. These are available as part of pre-order meals. These are other two-spotted crickets, which are considered a delicacy in some parts of Asia.

Meals containing insects are quite unusual for Europeans. In Asia, on the other hand, some types are part of the regular menu. Some are even considered a delicacy. Zipair now also offers meals prepared with or sprinkled with insect powder.

Interestingly, the low-cost airline advertises the two new cricket meals with environmental protection. Among other things, one argues with the high nutritional value and the renunciation of conventional factory farming.

The two dishes that contain ground cricket powder (or Gryllus powder) are the Chili Burger with Tomato and the Pasta Pescatore. According to Zipair, the Gryllus powder is included in the burger's bun, patty and flavorful tomato sauce. For the pasta option, soft shell crab, squid and mussels are cooked in a tomato sauce with Gryllus powder.
