The Japanese low-cost airline Zipair Tokyo plans to operate a non-stop connection between Tokyo-Narita and Los Angeles from December 25, 2021. Initially, three weekly circuits are to be carried out.

Zipair Tokyo is a subsidiary of Japan Airlines and was registered in the local company register in 2018. The carrier is to be positioned as a long-haul low-cost airline, but the corona pandemic brought some delays. Originally, the plan was to ramp up the route network in summer 2020, but the decision was made to postpone it due to the tough entry and quarantine regulations in Japan.

The official first flight to Bangkok took place on June 3, 2021. The route to Los Angeles, which is to be served by Boeing 787-9, is the first long haul in the young history of the Japan Airlines subsidiary. Further routes are to follow, but due to the current corona situation, they want to expand slowly.
