Jet Airways: Liechtenstein freezes investor funds

In Liechtenstein, assets of an investor in the Indian airline Jet Airways were frozen. Previously, there were raids on properties in Austria, Liechtenstein and Switzerland, reports Bloomberg.

The former Etihad Airways holding should have been in the air for a long time. The comeback had to be postponed again and again. It is also about unresolved legacy issues such as wage claims from former employees. In the three Alpine countries, the authorities are investigating the alleged allegation of money laundering. In India, the airline emphasizes that the operations should not have any impact on the carrier.

The Liechtenstein police only confirmed that assets had been seized, but no further details were communicated with reference to the ongoing investigation. Investment firm Kalkroch Capital said in a statement: "The ongoing investigations have been initiated following anonymous reports that have been filed in connection with certain deals in which Florian, in his personal capacity, is one of the financial investors. The disputes are commercial in nature. Florian has already lodged a complaint against these disputes and complaints with the competent court, which is also being investigated”.

In India, various media are reporting that numerous payments are still pending. It is said to be in an almost three-digit million amount in US dollars. However, Jet Airways sharply denied the reports. If the local news articles are correct, it is almost exclusively a matter of legacy assets that were “bought” from the insolvency estate.
