The Boston court responsible for hearing the appeal regarding the prohibited merger of Jetblue Airways with Spirit Airlines has announced that the case will be heard in June 2024. This means that the two carriers' hopes of a quick decision are dwindling.

The planned merger was prohibited by the competition authority. A lawsuit was filed against it and a federal judge did not give the green light. Jetblue Airways and Spirit Airlines are appealing against this decision. The US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit said it will hear the case in June 2024.

It has now become known that Spirit Airlines' financial situation is said to be tense. Jetblue Airways has now informed shareholders that it is preparing for the planned takeover not to be completed. At the same time, both companies are pushing – also publicly – for release as quickly as possible. But it doesn't look like that at the moment.
