Indigo Partners has always specialized in investing in the aviation industry. Now the company sees an opportunity in Colombia: a new JetSmart offshoot is to be built there in 2022.

JetSmart is a Chilean low coster based in Santiago. The airline was founded in 2017 by Indigo Partners, which also has a stake in Wizz Air and the Mexican company Volaris and has already gained a third foothold in the South American market with JetSmart Argentina. Now a fourth pillar is to follow there with JetSmart Colombia. The plan was to expand the business in Chile and Argentina. But Corona brings changes.

“Originally we would have further developed our activities in Chile or Argentina before starting in Peru or Colombia. However, we are currently seeing that the domestic market is recovering faster than the international business. After that, we have to align and change our strategy.
