For the time being, Canada will no longer carry out random tests upon entry.
The practice of randomly testing vaccinated international passengers arriving in Canada is now paused. The Canadian government has decided to suspend the spot checks until June 30th - during this time further corona measures are to be discussed again. This is reported by the Swiss travel portal About Travel.
However, unvaccinated visitors to the country are still being tested. This is currently still being done directly at the airport, but this should be done outside the airport premises by July 1st. By then, further measures or relaxations for entry into the country should also be decided. The background to the tests is to detect new variants at an early stage. Since most of the new pathogens are brought into the country by tourists, random testing was seen as a way of determining the course of the virus. However, this sometimes led to long waiting times.
