The Canadian airline Westjet announced that the workforce must provide evidence of full vaccination against Covid-30 by October 2021, 19. Otherwise there is a risk of termination of the employment relationship.
Similar announcements were made earlier by competitors Sunwing, Porter and Air Canada. The exact interpretation differs from carrier to carrier, because under certain circumstances it is sometimes permitted that a negative Covid-19 test may be presented when starting work.
"Protecting the health and safety of our guests and employees remains our number one priority and vaccinations are our best line of defense," said Mark Porter, WestJet's executive vice-president of people. "Aviation has been one of the hardest hit industries and we believe that vaccination of all WestJet Group employees is correct and ensures the safest travel and work environment for everyone in the WestJet world."
