After Tui, the tour operator FTI has also found a solution to the “test problem” that will be blooming for holidaymakers in the Canary Islands from November 14, 2020. The passengers should make a stop at a test station during their transfer from the airport to the hotel.

An antigen test can be carried out there at a price of 16 euros. According to the FTI, the result should be available within a maximum of half an hour. Tui found a solution in the "do-it-yourself process" under the online supervision of medical staff.

Im Tui article it was incorrectly mentioned that only PCR tests are recognized for entry into the Canary Islands. The regional government previously changed the practice and also allows antigen tests. This makes the Spanish region a real pioneer, because other countries, such as Germany, are literally putting their hands and feet against the use of rapid tests in travel. However, it can be assumed that the experience of the Canary Islands will be observed from many European countries, because the industry is in the starting blocks with antigen tests before each departure. The aim is to provide politicians with a “turnkey” solution that will replace the patchwork of entry and quarantine regulations. At the European level there is support for this from the EU Commission, which provides a large number of antigen test kits ordered hat.
