On April 10, 2022, an unusual cockpit incident occurred in the cockpit of the Easyjet operated Airbus A320neo with registration G-UZHA. The machine was en route from London-Luton to Agadir and the captain is said to have dislocated his shoulder.

Easyjet did not want to go into details and referred to medical confidentiality. However, it was confirmed that the unscheduled landing, safely performed by the first officer, was due to a medical emergency. The British newspaper "Daily Mail" reports, citing internal sources at the airline, that the captain is said to have dislocated his shoulder. He was received by paramedics at Faro airport and then taken to a Portuguese hospital.

The first officer informed air traffic control that there was a medical emergency and specified it, saying that the captain was incapacitated. Just under 20 minutes later, the Airbus A320neo operated by Easyjet landed safely at Faro Airport. The carrier basically confirmed the incident, but did not elaborate on the exact diagnosis: “Flight EZY2213 was diverted on April 10 because the captain needed medical attention. The first officer landed the plane safely, the captain was met by paramedics on arrival.”

The incident had awkward consequences for the passengers, who had to spend the night in hotels near Faro Airport. Due to the absence of the captain, the crew could not be completed at short notice. Easyjet did not say how many passengers were on board, but everyone, including the injured captain, is said to be fine.
