Star Alliance member Croatia Airlines is set to receive another capital injection from the state. This is to take place via the issue of new shares, which, according to the current state of affairs, are to be acquired almost exclusively by the government. Just over 40 million euros are to flow into the carrier.
29,6 million new shares are to be issued, which will be offered at a price of ten Croatian kuna each. As a result, the capital will also be increased from HRK 627,9 million to HRK 923,9 million. The shareholders still have to formally approve the measures, but this is considered a mere formality due to the fact that the state is the majority owner.
An Extraordinary General Assembly will be held on December 22, 2022. However, the government could also take the formal decision without the body, as it holds 98,76 percent of Croatia Airlines. Furthermore, state-owned companies are also involved in this airline.
The additional funds are also intended for the so-called "Post-Covid Strategy" be used. Croatia Airlines is to be fundamentally modernized. This also includes the plan to convert the fleet completely to the Airbus A220 machine type. Just this week it was announced that ordered six A220-300s directly from the manufacturer. Other copies are obtained from various lessors, so that the bottom line is that 15 units have already been secured.
