The Greek airline Aegean Airlines will fly between Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden and Heraklion on behalf of the tour operator Tui from June 4, 2022. Two weekly charter flights are currently planned.

From June 8, 2022, the carrier – also for Tui – will head for Rhodes once a week. Also new from Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden: Kukes, which will be served by Wizz Air on Wednesdays and Sundays with an A1 from June 2022, 320.

The tourist program at the FKB continues to grow. Ryanair and Eurowings have already significantly increased their capacities to Palma de Mallorca and complement Corendon Airlines' flights to Greece, Egypt and Turkey.

“The fact that further connections are already being launched so soon after the start of the main booking period speaks for the continuing high demand for summer trips and corresponds to what we are hearing from our partners in the various markets. Since the first relaxations were decided at the same time in relation to the pandemic, people will be able to use the freedom they have regained even more for vacation trips and visits from friends and relatives," says Baden-Airpark Managing Director Uwe Kotzan.

With the new announcements, the number of destinations offered in summer 2022 from FKB will increase to a total of 37 destinations in 19 countries. A total of seven airlines take off and land with four different aircraft types and a total capacity of over 1 million seats offered (return). Due to the large number of connections, numerous arriving passengers will again use FKB as a gateway to the Black Forest and the region, and thus contribute to the stimulation of domestic tourism.

The FKB is already preparing for the processing in the high season. Due to the enormous decline in air traffic caused by the pandemic in the last two years, many external service providers have reduced staff. How difficult it is to start up again when demand increases was already evident last summer, when there were long waiting times for passengers at some airports due to a lack of staff. "In order to avoid this, structural and organizational changes are already taking place at the FKB," adds Kotzan. "We want to be as prepared as possible to ensure smooth handling for our passengers even at peak times," Kotzan continued.
