The German regional airport Kassel-Calden was already massively controversial before it was built. The passenger numbers promised at the time with the help of expert reports could not be achieved even without the corona pandemic. The airport writes losses year after year.
Interestingly, the regional airport managed to reduce the deficit during the crisis. A spokesman for the state government told the DPA that this had decreased from 5,6 million euros in 2019 to 5,47 million euros in 2020. When it comes to the number of passengers, it looks very different, because last year there were only 27.500 travelers. About 37.500 passengers are expected for the current year.
