From May 1st, Delta customers will again have a free choice: For the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, the US airline is lifting the blocked middle seats and offering all seats for sale.

Delta blocked the center seats for a full year. While other airlines have long since given it up, the American carrier has stoically held out. In view of the high vaccination coverage, this measure will be ended on May 01st. But demand is also apparently recovering at Delta Air Lines. The decision of the carrier to block the middle seats in order to be able to keep the necessary safety distance has motivated many travelers to choose Delta last year, according to Delta boss Ed Bastian.

“During the past year we have redesigned our service to ensure the health, safety and comfort of guests while traveling. Now that vaccinations are becoming more widespread and the confidence to travel is increasing, we are ready to help our customers regain their normal lives, ”continues Ed Bastian.
