Kenya Airways and TUI launch joint travel platform for the African market

Kenya Airways, the national airline of Kenya, has relaunched the "KQ Holidays" platform in collaboration with the travel company TUI. The project, presented in Nairobi on March 2, 2026, aims to solidify the country's position as a year-round destination for international tourists.

The cooperation links the airline's global route network with the technological expertise and accommodation portfolio of the TUI Group. Customers will soon be able to purchase flights, hotels, transfers, and local activities as tailor-made travel packages within a single, integrated booking process.

A key component of the strategic partnership is the promotion of stopover programs. Transit passengers traveling via the Nairobi hub will have the opportunity to easily integrate short layovers into their flight bookings. This is intended to strategically utilize stopovers to inspire travelers to explore the country's safari parks, coastal regions, and cultural sites. According to Julius Thairu, Commercial Director of Kenya Airways, the platform serves to diversify revenue streams and increase the economic return per passenger.

The technical foundation is a white-label solution from TUI, enabling real-time inventory management and personalized travel options. For TUI, this collaboration represents a further step in its expansion on the African continent. Industry experts see the cooperation as a response to the growing competition in African air travel, where airlines are increasingly becoming comprehensive travel providers. By pooling services, both partners hope to achieve greater customer loyalty and better capacity utilization outside the traditional peak season.

Kenya Airways also plans to use the platform as a tool for promoting the economy of local communities by increasingly incorporating authentic experiences and regional providers into the program. While Kenya Airways will handle the operational aspects of the flights, TUI will contribute its global sales expertise. The offering is aimed at both individual travelers and groups and, through the seamless integration of ground services, is intended to enhance Kenya's appeal compared to competing destinations in East Africa.
