Lilihill, the private majority owner of Klagenfurt Airport, is not exactly happy that the Carinthian investment management has announced another lawsuit. In view of the fact that this takes place immediately before a round of talks with the state government, one feels downright alienated.

Klagenfurt Airport has been a political issue for many years. This year the rifts within the state government became particularly clear, because the ÖVP was striving to pull the so-called call option. However, the bill was not made with the SPÖ, which provides the governor, because they rejected the corresponding application. But that is not a solution to the dispute.

In a media statement, Lilihill reacted to the announced lawsuit by the KBV as follows: "While Lilihill is in solution-oriented negotiations with the Carinthian state government, precisely these talks are being torpedoed by the announcement of a lawsuit against Lilihill and the Carinthian airport operating company".

It is also believed that the announcement would have been made behind the governor's back immediately before the next round of talks with the state government. "Such an approach is unprecedented in the history of Carinthia, causes massive damage to the airport and the state of Carinthia and must not remain inconsequential," said Lilihill. The KBV is accused of "consistently blocking" all initiatives and pursuing the goal of "nationalizing the airport again".

Nevertheless, Lilihill sees the approach of the KBV calmly and points out that the holding company has already twice lost in court. Nevertheless, the state government is demanding clarification that the new lawsuit "does not correspond to the intention of the state of Carinthia and also runs counter to all agreements".

The private majority owner also explains: “Due to the actions of the KBV mentioned above, it is accepted that Carinthia will lose its airport. The state of Carinthia and its top representatives have to decide whether they really want to allow this. It is five to twelve".
