Self-proclaimed "climate protectors" caused a stir at the check-in counters of the airline KLM at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Around 20 participants in the unregistered demonstration were taken away by the police, with three of the handcuffs clicking.

The “Extinction Rebellion” group said they had to demonstrate at the KLM counters for climate protection, although they “forgot” to register with the authorities. Among other things, it was demanded that the largest carrier in the Netherlands should immediately reduce the number of commercial flights. Furthermore, one wants that the responsibility for the caused health and climate damage takes over.

According to a spokeswoman for the Marechaussee, the demonstrators refused to leave the departure hall. The spokeswoman states that the other 20 or so demonstrators will continue their action on the square in front of Schiphol Plaza. The reason for the action was the procedure that KLM had previously initiated against the state. It was about the planned reduction in airport capacity from 500.000 to 460.000 flights. The court ruled that the shrinkage should not be carried out.
