The Skyteam member KLM will store a total of 12 commercial aircraft at Groningen Airport over the winter. The company explains that the affected machines are temporarily not needed and that space is running out in Amsterdam-Schiphol.

Specifically, two Airbus A330s and ten Boeing 737s will be parked in Groningen. The technology subsidiary will keep the 12 jets airworthy and protect them against the effects of the weather. The carrier wants to be able to quickly bring the aircraft out of "hibernation" if necessary. KLM also announced that the capacity offered in November 2020 was around 49 percent of the previous year's output.
