The Dutch airline KLM will offer a total of 2022 destinations in the 167 summer flight schedule. These are 71 long-haul destinations and 96 locations within Europe.

In a direct comparison with the summer of the previous year, capacity was expanded by ten percent. According to their own statements, with 16 million seats, they are almost back to the level they were before the corona pandemic. The Portuguese cities of Porto and Lisbon, with three and four flights a day respectively, are just some of the destinations seeing an increase in KLM flights. The success of the new destinations Belgrade, Dubrovnik and Palma de Mallorca, which were added to the KLM route network last year, means that they will once again be included in the summer schedule. KLM also anticipates the return of business travellers, which is why it is adding frequencies on UK, German and Polish routes. Connections to Kyiv, St. Petersburg and Moscow are still suspended.

On long-haul routes, the offer has increased by around 2021 percent in direct comparison with the 17 summer timetable. Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao destinations are now offered daily. The latter destination is to be served twice a day during the high season. Port of Spain, KLM's new tropical destination in the winter schedule, is also included in the summer schedule, offering customers three weekly flights between Amsterdam and the capital of Trinidad and Tobago.

The range of flights to the United States of America has been steadily expanded since the entry ban for EU citizens was lifted in November 2021. Capacity is back to 2019 levels. Salt Lake City was recently reactivated. KLM now flies to Austin. In the summer of 2022, a total of 12 cities in the USA will be served from Amsterdam.

In the direction of Asia, the Dutch airline is currently registering increased demand in the direction of the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and Bali. Since India will also relax entry regulations, the carrier is planning to increase the number of frequencies. On the other hand, there will be no expansion to China for the time being, as the entry and quarantine regulations are still strict and also affect the flying personnel.

Japan and China flights with a stopover in South Korea

Due to EU sanctions against Russia, KLM does not operate in Russian airspace. Flight times to and from South Korea, Japan and China are therefore on average two hours longer than usual. Flights to Japan and China currently make a stopover in Seoul.

Capacity on most routes to South America has been more or less restored to pre-pandemic levels. KLM currently has daily flights to Sao Paulo, Panama City and Lima, with at least six weekly flights to Quito/Guayaquil, Bogota/Cartagena, Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires/Santiago de Chile. Passengers who want to fly to Africa this summer can now choose between ten destinations. Capacity has been increased on many routes compared to last summer to meet growing demand. Zanzibar, which was added to our route network last year, is again included in the summer timetable. KLM also operates flights to Johannesburg, Cape Town, Accra, Lagos, Kigali, Entebbe, Nairobi, Kilimanjaro and Dar es Salaam.
