From August 28, 2022, German Airways will fly two Embraer 190s on behalf of KLM. The wet lease order is initially limited to October 30, 2022. The Dutch airline explained, among other things, that due to a lack of staff, the two regional jets and their crews will be leased.

The Embraer 190s operated by German Airways will be used from Amsterdam-Schiphol, from where they will primarily be found on routes that are otherwise served by KLM Cityhopper. These include the destinations Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Basel, Gothenburg and Stavanger.

KLM and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol are currently suffering from acute staff shortages. As a result, there are regularly hour-long waiting times at the airport, including in front of the security check. The Dutch air carrier has presented a series of measures that should at least alleviate the current situation.
