Skyteam members ITA Airways and KLM will in future be working together under a code share agreement. The Alitalia successor and the Dutch airline have signed a contract to this effect.

In the course of the re-establishment of ITA Airways, the brand rights were bought from Alitalia and aircraft and slots were taken over. The new Italian airline was also included in the Skyteam for an initial year using the express procedure. Codeshare agreements, however, have to be renegotiated and signed.

The aim of the collaboration between ITA Airways and KLM is to link the hubs in Amsterdam and Rome-FCO. So the codes of the Italian carrier are placed on numerous European destinations from Amsterdam. In return, the Dutch Skyteam partner places its code on destinations within Italy as well as the destinations Luqa and Tirana.
