After Vienna-Schwechat Airport, Cologne / Bonn Airport has now also opted for a so-called Campus Cell 5G network. Put simply, this means that a small, dedicated cellular network will be set up on the approximately 1.000 hectare site.

This is intended to improve reception for passengers and tenants. The campus cell network is being set up in cooperation with the IT service provider NTT. In Cologne / Bonn innovations such as intelligent baggage and border controls will also be developed, tested and, if successful, brought to market maturity. The measures are intended to significantly increase the efficiency of the airport in the long term.
