The Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings is planning to start non-stop flights between Pristina and Belgrade. This is a first in many ways, as Serbia continues to regard Kosovo as part of its national territory, while the majority of countries see it differently and recognize Kosovo as an independent state. So far, there have been no non-stop flights between the two cities due to the political disagreements.

The last time there was such a connection was in 1999, but it was discontinued due to the aforementioned political squabbles. The United States of America brokered the resumption. Eurowings confirmed opposite airliners.dethat appropriate plans exist. They also already have a base in Pristina that is operated by Eurowings Europe. An exact date for the start of the route has not yet been set. A corresponding declaration of intent has already been signed with the two states. However, the actual start could be delayed due to the corona pandemic for economic reasons.

However, the planned route is also a novelty from Eurowings' point of view, because it is the first route to be started between two countries that do not belong to the European Union. As mentioned: Eurowings Europe has a base in Pristina and has an Airbus A319 stationed there.
