In Croatia, a total of 12 subsidized domestic routes will be newly awarded with effect from May 1, 2022. Croatia Airlines and Trade Air, which already receive PSO subsidies on most routes, each want as much of the pie as possible.
Many domestic routes within Croatia cannot be operated economically without government subsidies. Before joining the EU, these were usually awarded to Croatia Airlines without any further tendering. That changed, because now you have to advertise regularly across Europe. The current period starts on May 1, 2022 and is expected to end on March 28, 2026. Trade Air and Croatia Airlines are again in pole position to be able to hold their existing PSO routes. The first-named airline also uses Let 410 and Jetstream 32 wet leasing devices as part of wet leasing on routes with low traffic.
Funding is awarded for the operation of the following routes: Dubrovnik - Zagreb - Dubrovnik, Split - Zagreb - Split, Zagreb - Zadar - Pula - Zadar - Zagreb, Zagreb - Brač - Zagreb, Osijek - Dubrovnik - Osijek, Osijek - Split - Osijek, Osijek - Zagreb - Osijek, Rijeka - Split - Dubrovnik - Split - Rijeka, Osijek - Pula - Split - Pula - Osijek, Rijeka - Zadar - Rijeka and Osijek - Zadar - Osijek.
