The airline Air Peace will offer a non-stop service between Lagos and London-Gatwick from April 2024. At least in the early days, the operational flights will be carried out using aircraft from Norse Atlantic UK.
The two companies have announced that a wet lease agreement with an initial term of two months has been concluded. In concrete terms, this means that the flight connection will be offered under the commercial responsibility of Air Peace, but Boeing 787-9s and crews from Norse Atlantic UK will be used on behalf of the Nigerian carrier.
According to the announcement, the extent to which the market will accept the new flight connection will be evaluated during the initial phase. A decision should then be made as to whether the ACMI cooperation will be extended in the long term. The two airlines have agreed that if the introduction is successful, Norse Atlantic UK will fly on this route on behalf of Air Peace for a longer period.
With regard to take-off and landing rights, Norse says that the Nigerian aviation company was able to organize the slots it needed at Gatwick itself through the regulator. It was previously discussed that this too could be rented from Norse Atlantic UK.
“We are delighted to be working with Air Peace to launch this ACMI charter service between London Gatwick and Lagos. This collaboration offers us the opportunity to leverage our expertise in the charter business to provide Air Peace and its customers with a reliable and high-quality service,” said Bjørn Tore Larsen, CEO and founder of Norse Atlantic Airways.
“Air Peace is pleased to sign this partnership agreement with Norse Atlantic Airways to begin our London service. “We are confident that this strategic partnership will enable us to exceed our customers’ expectations and provide them with an outstanding flying experience as we continue to optimize our operations to offer even more innovative services,” said Allen Onyema, Chairman /CEO of Air Peace.
Norse Atlantic and Air Peace will continue to discuss possible longer-term partnerships between the two airlines to explore avenues for further collaboration and expansion in the future, the two carriers said.
