Is it possible to get into a Boeing 737 at an airport unnoticed, remove something in the cockpit and leave the area again unnoticed? Not quite, but at Lagos Airport a thief tried to do just that.

A Boeing 737 from Arik Air is affected. This was parked in Lagos. A suspected thief removed the flight management system from the EI-ULN. According to local media reports, other systems or parts in the cockpit were also stolen.

The alleged thief did not go completely unnoticed, however, because he was caught by security officials and customs officers. However, he is said to have threatened them violently. Extensive technical knowledge is required to expand such systems. It is completely unclear what the intruder actually wants with these, because selling them on the black market is also almost impossible, since the aviation industry's origin has to be precisely proven and documented for security reasons.
