On October 14, 2023, the Airbus A380 with the registration A6-EVH, operated by Emirates Airline, encountered a very strong crosswind during the landing approach. The attempt was aborted and then successfully repeated from a different direction.

The superjumbo was on its way from Sydney via Christchurch to Dubai under flight number EK 412. This route is regularly served with a stopover. During the landing approach to the New Zealand airport, the pilots of the A6-EVH had to contend with strong crosswinds.

Local planespotters captured the process on video and posted it on social media, among other places. You can see how the Airbus A380 is hit by a strong gust and ends up in an extremely shaky position. The captain then decided to abort the landing attempt. The touchdown was successful on the second attempt, but the superjumbo then came from a different direction.
