The aviation group LATAM will in future rely on a pure Boeing fleet for long-haul routes. The eleven remaining aircraft of the type Airbus A350-900 were phased out with immediate effect, according to a statement by the company.
The decision should also have an impact on the Airbus A350-1000 that have been ordered but not yet delivered. These are not to be taken over or used, since the long-haul flights are to be carried out exclusively with Boeing jets in the future. The corona pandemic hit LATAM hard.
"This decision is not only part of our transition to a smaller and more homogeneous fleet, but also aims to improve the efficiency of our large-scale operations in a time of lower demand and lower capacity in our international business," writes CEO Jerome Cadier in an employee release.
