On the evening of August 20, 2020, the deadline set for the flight personnel of the Lauda base in Vienna to accept the change of employer will expire. On letterhead from the Maltese company Lauda Europe Ltd. you remind those who have not (yet) given their consent of the upcoming deadline and point out that you have to start planning the OCC courses.

According to reports, around 95 percent of the pilots have already agreed to the change of employer, while the level of acceptance among flight attendants is said to be rather low. Those flying employees who worked for the Maltese Lauda Europe Ltd. change must be rechecked, as it will be a different operating license and a different AOC. The Austria-based Laudamotion GmbH is to be closed. The financial situation is said to be very tense. It is therefore to be expected that those Lauda employees who do not agree to the move to Ryanair's new Malta subsidiary could soon be out of their jobs.

Among the pilots who allegedly voted with a large majority for the move to Lauda Europe Ltd. should have voted, however, another circumstance causes displeasure. The licenses have to be converted from Austrian to Maltese documents. The costs for this can be up to 2.000 euros and, unsurprisingly, are borne by the pilots themselves. When asked, the pilots would have been told that neither Laudamotion GmbH nor Lauda Europe Ltd. will pay for these expenses. Some pilots only had to have their licenses changed a few months ago, for example German or British to Austrian, as this was allegedly requested by Austro Control. Even then, the costs had to be borne by yourself.

How Lauda Europe Ltd. will position within the Ryanair Group is currently unclear. In any case, those ACMI services that Laudamotion GmbH currently provides for Ryanair are to be taken over. How many aircraft of the type Airbus A320 with 9H registration will be is still open. It is also very likely that the Boeing 737 will be kept open in the manuals.
